Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

καρπούζι

Watermelon. Succulent. Red. Mood. When the season of summer starts, my mood changes and the colors I like to have on my plate too. A fridge in Athens. I open it and there is hardly anything in. That's more than great. It's their famous Greek diet that makes them so in favor of typical dishes and plenty of vitamins and healthy ingredients. The people from Crete seem to live much longer because of their fantastic composition of the world famous Crete diet. Lots of garlic, vegetables, hardly red meat but foremost fish, white meat and goat.

The fridge seems to me much about a minimalistic interior with the plate with large loafs of hole grain toasted bread and a second plate with slices of watermelon: καρπούζι . The name makes me remember a warm particular summer in Athens. We stayed in Nea Smirni, a beautiful crowded bourgeois neighborhood. Extended family. A marriage.

The mentioned toasted bread is eaten with cold pressed olive oil and sugar. The ultimate happiness for the senses. The combination of the olive oil and the sugar is just dizzying. It's the snack for kids coming home after a long school day. καρπούζι is for all day long
