''My Daughter: cosmopolitan, colorful and peanut allergic'', is the book in process. It is the story about my eldest daughter. She has been diagnosed with life threatened allergies, such as peanuts and nuts (and there is more). The book is a compilation of pieces of diaries from the last twelve years during our stays in China, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Morocco, London. The main character of the book turns 16 next April.
The book in process, is literally a never ending flow of moments and passages in life. We don't know if vaccinations or other treatments will be developed but this is very well possible. My daughter has huge confidence in science and the future.
The book is a positive and bright message about being colorful and cosmopolitan while facing serious allergies. As my daughter lives with us around the world she experiences her limitations and challenges in a variety of spots. In the book we want to share, those sides about her allergies.
The wonderful way she can eat all kind of dishes in all different countries and experiment a rainbow of cultural flavors. Allergies are in our case related to food: I am what I eat! We happen to be a family with an extended love for food. Living in different countries is much about building relationships with other cultures. Food seems to us a linking pin in the process of finding our way in a new place on this planet. The book tries to come up with food rules, strategies, recipes and with a personal resume of sometimes hilarious, difficult and colorful experiences.
The blog is a vivid intermediary for the book and other projects, connecting my fields of interest: traveling, international life, education, family, children, food, cooking and the arts.
