Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Pauw's allergy diary

Eczema is never far away like it seems, it comes and goes, and it is there when you didn't expect it to come out again. Solange takes care and uses dermatological tested creams, watches her food, exercises a lot. Eczema is all about Solange, it was there just a couple of weeks after she was born. It started with those tiny small red spots, most babies develop. Early puberty as we might read in the books for young parents. Solange's derma seemed to be eczema related. She looked like a small elephant, her skin was thick and swollen. I skipped all dairy products out of my diet and we treated Solange with special oils. Bath sessions were intense, slippery and exhausting, with her being definitely diagnosed with eczema, we changed old fashion cotton diapers for pampers. It meant less laundry and a dry skin. Sounds pathetic, but so true to me. In Amsterdam there were two camps: the pro nature people and the convenient group of parents. Sustainable thinking while looking after my baby girl wasn't my priority, selfish maybe. But I was happy to find myself back with a pink soft skin for Solange.

The eczema was the first sign of a long flow of signals that led a couple of years later to the serious diagnose of her severe and life threatening allergies.
