Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Kitchen Atelier

We received a phone call earlier that day, last Saturday. We were both surprised by the invitation. The voice mail left us the following message: ''You're expected in your garden at 7 pm. Restaurant 'Les Trois Anges' we'll serve a romantic dinner for two. Make sure you look nice and you're in a relaxed mood. Please confirm if you like to attend.'' We confirmed immediately. My head was doing busy thinking but not about food. I happen to have those days, I mentioned it already, that there is just no way that I can come up with anything we could have for supper. Now I realize that the girls must have picked up this message somewhere and see my familiar expression as an invitation to the kitchen. Perfect experience for them to make a meal and cook with the available stuff they find in the different cupboards.
The recipes you realize yourself will stay. They probably become your very own favorites. It's like sharing music and listening while the kids give performances. Later on they can treat their friends. Your teens are sort of cooking autonomous when they leave for college. And best of all, everything is peanut and nut free. So the hole project that evolves is a kind direct learning experience. Give the growing ups some space, try your flexibility. If one have learned their kids the basics about food rules they can do it, they will be happy and satisfied. Much of their creativity and exploration will counter balance the mass in the kitchen. Learning is in the end of the day about small steps. Last Saturday we were quiet OK to clean up their kitchen atelier.
